What is Safer Internet Day?
Safer Internet Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year Safer Internet Day covers online issue or themes that speak to the things young people are seeing and experiencing online.
The 2025 Safer Internet Day theme is: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.'
Safer Internet Day is co-ordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre in partnership with Childnet.

Join Joel Mawhinney and Maddie Moate in this online safety lesson for Safer Internet Day, as we step into the virtual world of Scam Smashers!
In this exciting game, players must outsmart digital tricksters to protect their personal information. Can your class work together, use their detective skills, and make it to the end of the Live Lesson to beat the scammers once and for all?
This curriculum-linked lesson for 7–11 year-olds, created in partnership with Childnet, encourages young people to discuss and respond to online safety issues, helping them navigate the digital world with confidence.
Bitesize for Teachers has a wealth of online safety resources for teachers to use with pupils, including videos, articles, and quizzes. These collections explore important aspects of online safety, such as online bullying, managing online information, privacy and security, and copyright and ownership.
